The cheapest solution that actually works.
An over-engineered answer is easy. Doubling every member, specifying steel where wood works, calling for piers on a slab that moved an inch and a half twenty years ago — all of that is defensible on paper and expensive in your driveway.
Garrett framed and remodelled houses before he engineered them, so the drawings account for how the work actually gets done: what a crew can lift, what fits through the door, where the shoring goes. Buildable beats theoretically optimal every time.
And when nothing needs to be done, that's the report you get — sealed, so it's worth something.
